Q. What is your position on Maori wards? A. My role as a councillor is to serve everyone in the Manawatū Rural Ward. I believe it is important that the community makes this decision democratically. The referendum gives people that choice, and I respect the outcome. My focus is on ensuring all voices are heard and represented fairly.

Q. Do you support the Centralisation of wastewater? A. Yes. Based on my experience, I support wastewater centralisation. Where it hasn’t been chosen, communities are now facing serious problems. Centralisation provides long-term security, consistency, and helps avoid costly issues in the future. However, this must be done with extreme care: the system must be well-planned, costs carefully managed, and the resulting asset must never be sold into foreign ownership.

Q. What are your views regarding the library, the pool, the Civic centre – are these ‘nice to have, or necessary to have? A. I believe that whilst these facilities are technically speaking a ‘nice to have’ compared to essential infrastructure, they are vital for a healthy community. They provide spaces for learning, connection, and well-being, which deliver great value to a well-connected, vibrant community.

Q. Are you in a position to physically attend Council meetings? A. Yes. I will absolutely be attending all Council meetings if elected. My focus will be on doing the actual job of a councillor to the absolute best of my abilities, which will be listening and serving our entire community.
